KAA Busts Fake Job Ads: 2,000+ JKIA Vacancies Deemed Phony

On Saturday, June 17, the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) flagged as fraudulent. Over 2,000 job postings at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

The authority indicated in a statement that the advertisements that circulated on social media platforms did not originate from them.

Included among the jobs advertised were those of drivers, flight attendants, and baggage handlers.

KAA also disclosed that several applicants were duped into submitting fraudulent applications after being asked to pay fees during the application process.

In its statement, the authority noted that some of the fraudsters behind the fake advertisements created fake social media accounts to make them appear authentic.

“It has come to our attention that unscrupulous individuals are defrauding members of the general public by making false claims that they can obtain employment with Kenya Airports Authority.

Part of the statement read, “Unsuspecting victims are being lured through fake social media pages and posters.”

In the fraudulent advertisement, KAA was purportedly conducting a massive recruitment drive. With some positions offering salaries as high as Ksh38,000.

Therefore, the agency in charge of airports in the country urged those interested in working for them to check their official websites for legitimate employment opportunities.

“Please note that all available employment opportunities at the authority are advertised in leading daily newspapers and posted on the KAA’s official website, www.kaa.go.ke,” the authority clarified.

Due to their desperation for employment. The majority of Kenyans have lost their hard-earned money to scammers in fake job advertisements in recent years.

According to the Kenya Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), the national unemployment rate between October and December 2022 was 4.9%.
