Exclusive: CBK Governor Nominee Kamau Thugge’s Net Worth Stands at Ksh.450M
Kamau Thugge, a nominee for the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), has disclosed a net worth of Ksh.450 million.
Dr. Thugge stated before a parliamentary vetting panel on Tuesday that he has amassed wealth through his ownership of properties across the country and shares in various markets.
Dr. Thugge stated that he owns a piece of land in Thika Greens, an apartment in Nairobi, a house in Mombasa, as well as stocks in various markets and cash equivalents.
He currently serves as the president’s senior advisor and head of fiscal and budget policy. In addition, he serves on Ruto’s Economic Council.
From 2013 to 2018, he previously served as the Treasury PS.

He was dismissed in 2019 after he and former Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich were charged.
In 2021, Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji dropped the economist’s charge of inflating a commercial loan for the construction of the Kimwarer and Arror dams in Kerio Valley by Ksh.17 billion, making him a state witness.
“I was incorrectly charged with a matter that belonged to another ministry.” The prosecutor reviewed the charges, dismissed them, and appointed me as a state witness. “The matter is before the court,” Thugge told the Parliament on Tuesday during his interrogation.
If approved by the National Assembly, he will replace Dr. Patrick Njoroge as the tenth governor of the Central Bank of Kenya.
