Azimio Politician’s Desperate Bid to Join Ruto: Cleophas Malala Reveals Damning Phonecall Recordings

Saturday, May 27, United Democratic Alliance Secretary Cleophas Malala lashed out at Azimio politicians, calling them hypocrites posing as public defenders while pursuing their self-interest.

Speaking at the funeral of former politician Joseph Hamisi, Malala criticized Kakamega Deputy-Governor Ayub Savula, claiming that he called him in preparation for the 2027 General Election, requesting to join the government.

He questioned why politicians from Azimio do not confront President William Ruto when they visit the State House.

“The truth of the matter is that none of you confront William Ruto about this issue when you visit State House. You only speak these words at gatherings and funerals.

“Yesterday (Friday), while I was with the president, Ayub Savula called and asked me to join the government for the upcoming elections. You did not mention taxation in any way. If you degrade the president, we will respond in kind. I will identify you by name, Malala vowed.

Savula, on the other hand, advocated for the housing fund to be voluntary rather than a requirement.

“For example, a teacher has made his plans and constructed his own home, and you want to charge him 3%. “To what end?” He questioned.

In addition, Malala rejected Vice Chairman Seth Panyako’s resignation over the housing fund scandal. He alluded to this by listing the UDA leadership and indicating that Panyako was absent.

Governor Cecil Mbarire (Chairman), Hassan Omar (Vice-Chairman), Malalah (Secretary-General), and Japheth Nyakundi (Treasurer) comprised this group.

“This is the leadership of the UDA. He indicated that Seth Panyako had resigned from nothing.

The Secretary-General of the UDA also criticized politicians who criticized the housing levy at social gatherings rather than in designated forums such as Parliament, where they could present the issues to the House.

“The 3% housing contribution is not a subject for criticism at funerals and informal gatherings; Do it in Parliament,” he stated.

Panyako, who announced the same funeral service, cited his desire to stand with Kenyans as his motivation.

He insisted he had no choice but to leave the ruling party.
“I’ve decided to stick with Kenyans because we used to say kazi ni kazi, pesa mfukoni during the campaigns. Now they are saying, Kazi ni kazi, pesa kwa serikali,” he stated.

As he maintained his opposition to the housing fund, he confirmed that he decided after discussing the matter with the president.

“I spoke with the President at 7:00 p.m., and it appeared that, given my opposition to the housing fund and the high cost of living, I could not continue in my position.

“Therefore, on behalf of my late friend (Hamisi), I want to announce that I have resigned from my position at UDA,” he stated.
