Heroic KDF Officers Rescue Pregnant Woman Trapped in Warzone, Astonish Her with Post-Delivery Surprise
Thursday, May 25, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officers rescued a pregnant woman while conducting an operation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
According to a statement released by the KDF on May 27, the officers were on patrol in Kibumba, a town in the province of North Kivu, when the expectant mother approached them for assistance.
The Kenyan troops, observing the woman’s suffering, decided to transport her to the Kinyaruchinya Health Centre for treatment.
The officers decided to wait for her to deliver safely despite operating in a war-torn country and facing opposition from the militia.
“On Thursday, the Kenyan contingent of the East African Community Regional Force (EACRF) provided medical aid to a pregnant woman who sought assistance from soldiers on patrol in Kibumba.

“She was transported to the Kinyaruchinya Health Centre, where she had a successful delivery,” read a portion of the statement.
After the delivery, the officers returned the mother to her home to ensure her safety and provided her family with food to sustain the mother and child.
The Kenyan troops are a part of the East African Community Regional Force (EACRF), which is attempting to bring peace to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
“EACRF continues to enhance the Protection of Civilians, opening up the Main Supply Routes for the free flow of people and goods, and aiding humanitarian assistance in the Joint Operation Area for socio-economic development in the ongoing efforts for peace and stability in Eastern DRC,” the statement stated in part.
Kenyans took to social media after the incident to praise the officers for their acts of humanity.
“This is the greatest act of humanity. David Rotich praised the KDF’s efforts.
“This is so heartwarming, gentlemen; may God grant you good health so that you can continue providing humanitarian aid to those in need.God bless KDF,” Osteen Koech added
