Vibrant Festivities Unveiled: Exploring the Spectacle of Week-Long National Holiday Commencing with Madaraka Day
Dennis Itumbi, a digital strategist, announced on May 25 that the government had changed the model for national holiday celebrations from one day to one week.
The chair of the National Holidays Thematic Committee stated in Embu County that numerous activities would be held days before the actual national holiday to advance national government programs.
The activities will span the six days preceding the national holiday specified by the Public Holidays Act.
Before the main Madaraka Day celebration, the government would host events aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and farmers. Included on the list of events were prayers for the business units.
The chair added that on Friday, May 26, President William Ruto will unveil the new model in Embu.
“As you are all aware, we have extended our national holidays from a single day to a full week. The President will inaugurate the exhibition. The topic is empowering businesses, SMEs, trade, and revenue,” he explained.

According to Itumbi, the theme of the Friday launch will be housing, and the Head of State is expected to launch multiple projects in the county.
On the other hand, he mentioned that celebrations would also feature exhibitors. Who would showcase some of their products to locals to increase trade and networking.
“We expect 35 exhibitors, including thematic groups such as Google and other key players such as factories that will launch value-added coffee products,” he added.
Various administrations have altered national holiday celebrations in recent years.
On December 12, 2015, former President Uhuru Kenyatta declared that nationwide national holidays would be held to promote national unity and county economic development.
The rotation targeted Madaraka Day, Mashujaa Day, and Jamhuri Day as national holidays.
Notably, the current administration adopted the same model.
