President Ruto’s Vow: No Public Resource Theft, Not Even by Friends

President William Ruto has declared that he will combat corruption in the country with ruthlessness.

While stating that Kenyans must receive value for every tax they pay, the President stated that no one, not even his friends, will escape his wrath if they are found guilty of corruption.

“No one will steal or squander public assets. I will confront them head-on,” he said, adding that his actions will speak louder than his words.

“I will take personal responsibility for accounting for the resources of the people of Kenya,” he assured.

Ruto made these remarks on Friday in Kandara, Murang’a County, during the burial of David Wawer Ng’ethe, the father of John Kiarie, member of parliament for Dagoretti South.

He described the former Kandara representative as a respected, thoughtful, and purpose-driven leader par excellence.

“He was a gentleman and a visionary who dedicated his life to serving humanity,” stated President Ruto.

The head of state reassured the nation that the economy will soon recover.

“We have a long-term plan that will stimulate inclusive and sustainable economic growth,” he said, emphasizing that no region of Kenya will be left behind.

Cabinet Secretaries Njuguna Ndung’u (National Treasury), Alice Wahome (Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation), and Moses Kuria (Investments, Trade, and Industry) were present, along with Governor Irungu Kang’ata of Murang’a and MPs and MCAs.

The leaders urged President Ruto to remain unwavering in his fight against corruption.

Governor Kang’ata stated that profiting from public resources was improper.

“This battle must extend to the county level so that resources follow development rather than individuals,” he said.

Kimani Ichungw’ah, a Kikuyu representative, echoed this sentiment, asserting that the President is serious about protecting public resources.

“Do not allow anyone to derail you. We must correct those who squander public assets. We will support you by providing meaningful oversight,” stated the Majority Leader of the National Assembly.

The remarks follow President Ruto’s recent suspension of government officials at KEBS and KEMSA for allegedly corrupt dealings.
