Gachagua: UDA’s 100-Year Rule, Ruto Supporters in Top Gov’t

Vice President Rigathi Gachagua reaffirmed that high-level positions in the Kenya Kwanza government will only be given to President William Ruto’s loyalists, expressing confidence that his party will continue to rule for the next century.

Gachagua stated on Thursday, when he presided over a meeting of the UDA’s National Party Coordinators, that the purpose of a General Election was to elect a ruling government, and that the winner takes all; therefore, it would be imprudent for Kenya Kwanza administration to allocate government positions to the opposition.

“Why do we go for elections kama tunaenda uchaguzi ati wale wameshindwa wanaingizwa ndani? Iko haja gani ya kusumbua raia? Si tuachane na mambo ya uchaguzi basi tuite wazee wa nyumba kumi wagawe viti,” said Gachagua.

He added that the leadership of Kenya Kwanza is strategically positioning and transforming the party into a national political power that will rule for the next century.

Similarly, the DP commented on how President Ruto was photographed at three different locations over the past weekend, while opposition leader Raila Odinga quipped that the president is not shy about photo opportunities.

“Umeona juzi huyo mzee (Raila) ameona president anaenda pale ati wapigwe picha. Akimwona kwa mpira anakimbia for a photograph ati ndio watu wake watulie. According to the DP, the president of Kenya has no issues with photo opportunities.

“Mkimwona mwambieni Saturday tutakuwa Limuru na Nyandarua. Sunday tutakuwa Isiolo. “Akipata nafasi akuje tupigwe picha, but no further.”

On Saturday, May 13, Ruto and Raila attended the funeral of the late freedom fighter Mukami Kimathi in Njabini, Nyandarua County, before leaving for the 2023 Kip Keino Classic at Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi.

On Sunday, May 14, the couple was also spotted at Nyayo Stadium for the ‘Mashemeji Derby’ between AFC Leopards and their traditional rivals, Gor Mahia.

Since then, Raila has maintained that his interactions with Ruto were mere coincidence.
