Fasting Controversy: Paul Mackenzie Denies Encouraging Followers’ Fatal Fast

Paul Mackenzie, a controversial pastor, has defended himself against allegations that he leads a church that is similar to a cult.
Mackenzie stated in his statement that he did not preach about the end of the world or call on his followers to fast until death in the recording that he made with the police regarding the tragedy that occurred at Shakahola.

Mackenzie also claims that there is not a physical church anywhere, including deep within the Shakahola forest. However, he claims that he purchased the 800-acre piece of land in Shakahola, subdivided the piece of land to his followers, and his followers bought it at will. Mackenzie also claims that some of his followers have not yet cleared payments for the purchase of the aforementioned pieces of land.

On April 24, Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome made a tour of the Shakahola forest and mentioned that the ownership of a piece of land that was 800 acres was in question.

“The criminal with us owns 800 acres here well it’s a matter under investigation because other parties have come forward saying he doesn’t own this parcel of land so it’s a matter again under investigationโ€ฆ,” said Koome. “Well, it’s a matter under investigation because other parties have come forward saying he doesn’t own this parcel of land so it’s a matter again under investigationโ€ฆ”

In the statement, the controversial pastor claims that he is unable to account for the number of people who were in the forest because he did not call them and that there was no sales agreement or title for those who bought the pieces. He also claims that he is unable to account for the number of people who were in the forest because he did not call them.
