    Raila Odinga visits Pastor Ezekiel’s mansion after release

    Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga visited Pastor Ezekiel Odero at his home in Mavueni, Kilifi County, on Saturday, May 6, two days after the latter’s release from prison.

    The ODM leader arrived at the multimillion-dollar residence shortly after 4 p.m. with the area governor, Gideon Mungaro, and other Azimio politicians.

    Cliff Ombeta, the pastor’s attorney, was also present during the visit.

    The pastor and his assistants greeted Raila upon his arrival.

    On May 6, 2023, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga touring Pastor Ezekiel Odero’s home in Kilifi County with the televangelist, attorney Cliff Ombeta, and other Azimio politicians.

    The pastor then showed him around his multimillion-dollar home and other projects he was working on.

    Within the facility, he observed the mall and the international school as projects.

    Raila spent nearly an hour at the facility before leaving shortly before 5:00 p.m.

    Pastor Ezekiel’s ties to the Shakahola massacre were under investigation at the time of his visit.

    The charges against him included terrorism, radicalization, fraud, money laundering, and indoctrination of the faithful.

    On Thursday, May 4, the televangelist was released on Ksh1.5 million bail and ordered to report weekly to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

    Additionally, he was forbidden from commenting on ongoing investigations.

    The Shanzu Law Courts will hear his case on Monday, May 8th.

    After several deaths were reported at his New Life Prayer Centre and Church, the pastor was arrested.

    Investigations into the Shakahola Forest, where 100 bodies were discovered, linked them to an alleged cult led by controversial pastor Paul Mackenzie, which led to his arrest.

    Before the visit, the leader of the ODM attended a funeral in the county. Where he criticized President William Ruto’s plans to rein in rogue pastors.

    Specifically, he questioned Ruto’s decision to appoint a Commission of Inquiry. Into the Shakahola massacre, even though several government officials and police officers were implicated in the incident.
