Jubilee Party Nairobi Denounces Raila’s Mass Action

Raila Odinga’s planned demonstrations in the capital city encountered their first obstacle on Monday, May 1, when the Jubilee faction in Nairobi announced that it would not participate in the demonstrations.

Mark Ndung’u, the chair of the Jubilee Nairobi Branch, explained to GossipA2Z that the faction would not participate in a civil action that impeded the ease of doing business in the city.

Ndung’u requested that the former premier consider calling off the demonstrations and, if not, ensure the safety of businesses, particularly in the central business district.

“The amount of loss sustained during the mass action protests is public knowledge. We will not allow protests to impede the ease and freedom of conducting business, he stated.

The former Makadara Parliamentary candidate issued a warning to former President Uhuru Kenyatta regarding the destruction of property during the protests.

“We saw Uhuru Kenyatta, the real financier of the protests, who came out last week. I want to let him know that just as they have their own business, so does mama mboga.

“If there are any property thefts, deaths, or acts of violence, then we will march to his investments and disrupt his business,” he said.

The comments were made hours after Odinga confirmed that the picketing exercise would proceed as planned and begin on May 2 at 6 a.m.

In response to Adamson Bungei’s ban on the demonstrations, Raila assured that the protests would be peaceful and warned the police not to provoke his supporters.

On April 30, Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria criticized Uhuru, accusing him of attempting to destabilize the government of Kenya Kwanza.

Kuria threatened to lead protestors to Uhuru’s home on Ichweri. He criticized the former head of state for undermining his agenda in particular.

While the head of Trade spent days traveling and attending meetings to attract investors to the country, Uhuru was allegedly funding protests that deterred them.
