The majority of bodies exhumed from mass graves in the Shakahola region of Kilifi County belonged to children, according to detectives investigating the Shakahola cult killings.

Even though 245 of the 444 people reported missing and believed to have died as a result of Paul MacKenzie’s teachings were minors, according to data on missing cult members compiled by the Kenya Red Cross, this is the case.

Kenya Red Cross data According to a police report, 60% of the bodies were children, 25% of whom were female, and 15% of whom were male.

As a result of the effects of starvation on their bodies, forensics experts clarified that the numbers may change, as malnourished adults may assume the appearance of children.

Contentious teachings

In the past two weeks, the controversial preacher Paul Mackenzie has been in the news for all the wrong reasons due to one of the worst homicide cases in Kenya.

After the discovery, an examination of his teachings revealed cultish tendencies that drove people to their deaths.

Mackenzie stated in one of his sermons that children should not impede the spread of the gospel.

“God created you to share his message. Children should not stand in the way of this. If you are unable to preach because you are concerned with providing for your children, they should starve to death. Let them die. We will bury them with the words, “Kwani kuzika ni kazi” (burying is a very simple task),” Pastor Mackenzie announced during one of his sermons to thunderous applause from the congregation.
