Uhuru Changes Phone Number, Billionaire Responds to Ruto’s Mediation Plea

President William Ruto, on Saturday, April 29, pleaded with Mo Ibrahim, a British businessman of Sudanese descent, to engage his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Prime Minister Raila Odinga to cool the country’s political climate.

Ruto challenged the philanthropist during the Mo Ibrahim Governance Forum at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) to leverage his close ties with Uhuru and Raila to assist them in reaching a consensus regarding the bipartisan talks.

In response to Ruto’s request, the billionaire lamented Uhuru’s new mobile phone number.

“Unfortunately, my other brother has changed his mobile phone number. I am unable to reach him. Therefore, if you hear us, Uhuru, please contact me.

Ruto assured Ibrahim, “I will look for his new number and give it to you.”

Nevertheless, Ibrahim reported to Ruto that he had reached out to Raila and even invited him to lunch to discuss some of the issues raised by the Azimio side.

“All of you are my friends. Uhuru, Raila and you are all my close friends and brothers.

“I have already reached out to our brother Raila and invited him to lunch, but I have not yet received confirmation. Ibrahim insisted, “However, I’d like to meet him.”

However, the business magnate pleaded with both Kenya Kwanza and Azimio’s factions to reconcile and work for Kenyans. He argued that the disputes would have an impact on education, the job market, and the economy as a whole.

In addition, he challenged Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury and one of the forum’s guests at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre, to facilitate mediation talks between Raila, Uhuru, and Ruto.

Ruto responded to Mo Ibrahim’s request to Welby, “One of my competitors (Raila) is an Anglican, and I believe the Archbishop of Canterbury would do a very good job.”

The issue of Ruto creating positions for his family members also arose during the forum. However, the Head of State denied the allegations, insisting that he was not creating any positions for his relatives.

“My family members do not participate in politics, but I am not suggesting that they should not. Ruto responded, “The fact that the people of Kenya have given me the presidency is sufficient; it is not my place to use it to promote my family.”

“It is my responsibility to advance the children of others,” he insisted.
