President William Ruto has complained about the treatment of African leaders during international summits.

He explained that all 54 African leaders will not attend the meetings in person but will send representatives in their place.

Ruto complained at the Mo Ibrahim Governance Conversation at the Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC) in Nairobi that they are sometimes mistreated when they travel to developed nations for seminars or meetings with world leaders.

“It is not intelligent for 54 of us (African Presidents) to go and sit in front of a man from another country. Occasionally, we are mistreated and loaded into school buses. It is improper, Ruto emphasized.

The President stated that the members of the African Union concluded that only a select few will represent them at the global talks.

“The African Union has decided that in the future if there is to be a discussion between Africa and any other nation, the chair will represent Africa.

“A group of six or seven members should be able to represent Africa, and that is the position I am taking as President of Kenya for any other meeting we will have in response to these requests,” he explained.

He explained that because African states respect the sovereignty of other nations, requesting reciprocity should not pose a problem.

Miguna Miguna: Lesson against obscene opulence

Miguna stated that this was the correct action because it prevents the waste of taxpayer funds, and she urged African leaders to follow suit.

“There is nothing improper about African presidents and prime ministers taking buses. To the funeral of a racist and colonial monarch. It is the correct action to take. Beneficial for taxpayers. excellent for the environment. And a lesson on how to combat obscene wealth,” he said.

A photo of African leaders being transported by bus to the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II went viral. Prompting Kenyans on social media to express a variety of opinions.

Among the leaders was President William Ruto. Seated next to him was his wife Rachel Ruto. Who was gazing out the window. And directly in front of the First Lady was the President of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu.
