Ruto Fires Contractor, Gives Fresh Directive at Roadside Rally

Saturday, April 29th, President William Ruto terminated the contracts of a contractor responsible for a stalled road project in Uasin Gishu County.

Ruto, while addressing residents, criticized the contractor, claiming that his incomplete work had impeded the area’s development.

Ruto defended his decision by noting the project’s decline over the past five years.

“Therefore, I’ve advised that individual to leave that path and find something else to do. Ruto stated, “Let him go and become a charcoal burner, as that is also work.”

“That person has been on this road for five years and has done nothing,” he reprimanded the contractor further.

To build the road from Keboi to Katembu, however, he instructed local engineers to find a new contractor within two weeks. The President added that the road was essential for the construction of a highway connecting Nandi and Uasin Gishu County.

Ruto told locals as he commissioned the upgrading of 61-kilometer roads connecting Nandi and Uasin Gishu Counties, “We will look for a contractor to construct that road.”

In addition, he instructed the local engineers in the counties of Nandi and Uasin Gishu to work with the contractors to connect polytechnics, markets, and schools with solid road networks.

“I told those individuals that it was unnecessary to terminate that road at Katembu; instead, they should extend it to Kipkaren,” Therefore, we have agreed with the engineers that a new road should be constructed near a polytechnic in this area,” the head of state stated.

Ruto believed that expanding road construction and upgrading was essential for accelerating sustainable development.

Ruto insisted, “Our renewed and increased investment in the construction of roads, particularly in remote areas, is part of the Government’s large-scale plan to connect people and businesses to expanding economic opportunities to accelerate the country’s sustainable and inclusive growth.”

In addition, he launched several other projects in Kakamega County, accompanied by local leaders such as Musalia Mudavadi, Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula, and Boniface Khalwale, Senator of Kakamega.
