Mother of Shakahola suspect defends son ‘Alifunga Kanisa Kitambo.’
Kilifi – The mother of Pastor Paul Mackenzie has broken her silence days after her son was implicated as the mastermind behind the deaths in the dreadful Shakahola forest.
The controversial preacher is the senior minister at the Goods News International church, whose members have mysteriously perished in the hundreds.

It was primarily stated that the faithful perished from starvation after Mackenzie persuaded the faithful of his church to fast to meet their creator.
Despite the accusations made against him, the preacher’s mother now asserts his innocence.
According to Anastacia Mwele, Mackenzie has been disciplined since childhood, and he has never exhibited a roguelike disposition.
According to the elderly woman, her son is being framed by people he knows.
“It pains me that they harass my son by labeling him a murderer. I have not seen him with such a personality since he was a child. His closest associates are framing him, and you can see them,” she said.
Mwele explained that Mackenzie closed his church in 2019 and has not engaged in active evangelism since then.
She pondered how her son could persuade others to fast to death, deeming it impossible.

Mwele stated that if her son possessed such extremist beliefs, she would have been the first person he would have asked to starve.
Since 2019, I have never observed him with a problem. If he is a murderer, he would have begun with me. He preached Jesus’ authentic gospel. How can I persuade you to starve and have you agree? I am not on his side, but I am aware of his innocence. “If I am lying, let Jesus execute me,” she said.
Earlier, the preacher’s younger brother, Robert Mackenzie, had defended him, insisting that he was not to blame for the deaths of his Good News International Church members.

Robert argued that Mackenzie did not compel his followers to adhere to his radical teachings, which included not attending school, avoiding medical care, and starving to death with the ‘false’ promise of meeting Jesus.
Before he closed his church in 2019, I was one of Mackenzie’s followers. My children attend school and the hospital when necessary. Despite his teachings, he has never approached me to inquire about why my children attend school. Therefore, if you fail to transport your children to school, it is your responsibility and not Mackenzie’s,” Robert said.
