Interior CS Kindiki Transfers Kilifi Police Chiefs Over Shakahola Massacre
Prof. Kithure Kindiki, cabinet secretary for the interior, has ordered an immediate reshuffle of all senior police commanders and officers in Kilifi County in the wake of the Shakahola cult massacre, which has infuriated the nation.
CS Kindiki told the press on Friday, following a visit to the area, that all the top security leadership in the region would be transferred to other parts of the country and new leadership would be deployed to enhance security and facilitate proper investigations.
“As of today, we will transfer all stations, divisions, sub-counties, county heads, and agency commanders within Kilifi County,” he said.
“According to government policy, all agencies, including the police service, administration police service, criminal investigations, and other departments, including the National Intelligence Service, must be relocated to allow their colleagues from other stations to advance the investigations.”
CS Kindiki stated that the reorganization of the security agencies would facilitate an effective investigation into the Shakahola cult. Led by self-proclaimed pastor Paul Mackenzie, in which more than 109 deaths have been reported.

Intelligence has determined, according to the CS, that some of the current security personnel may have received reports. About the cult in the past and disregarded them; therefore, they cannot be trusted to conduct the investigations again.
Kindiki stated, “We will replace them with their peers from elsewhere to demonstrate to the public that what we are doing is for the good of the country and the good of justice.”
“If you are the OCS, the commander, or someone who should have received a report and failed to act. You cannot be a member of the team conducting the investigations; the signs are not good.”
While assuring the public of the government’s resolve to eradicate criminal activity in the country. And bring to justice those claiming to be religious leaders. The head of the Department of the Interior stated that the government would employ force comparable to that used against terrorists and bandits.
“Kenya will never be harmed in this manner again; your time is up. All you criminals manipulating the Kenyan people and subjecting them to degrading and inhumane treatment using the Bible,” he warned.
“We are coming for you, so get ready. You belong in the same category as North Rift bandits and terrorists who occasionally attempt to harm us.
