Gen. Francis Ogolla Appointed as the New Chief of Defence Forces by President Ruto
President William Ruto has selected Lt. General Francis Omondi Ogolla as the new Chief of Defence Forces to replace General Robert Kariuki Kibochi, who has concluded his term in the position.
The appointment of General Ogolla was announced on Friday, and he was serving as the Vice Chief of the Defence Forces before being promoted to his new role.
According to the Ministry of Defence, General Kibochi has completed 44 years of service in the military and is now retiring.
The appointment of the new Chief of Defence Forces was made by Section 9(2)(a) of the Kenya Defence Forces Act by His Excellency Dr. William Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces.
As per the circular released by the Ministry of Defence. Lt. General Francis Omondi Ogolla has been promoted to the rank of General. And appointed as the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF).
General Ogolla’s appointment as the new CDF is expected to bring new leadership and direction to the Kenya Defence Forces.
