Arrested Woman in Kitengela Child Killing Speaks Out

Monday, April 24, a woman was arrested in Kitengela, Kajiado County, for fatally stabbing her 2-year-old daughter. She confessed to the murder and elaborated on her motive.

Neighbors who filmed the woman murdering her daughter argued that she was mentally unstable because she did not fear being apprehended or charged.

The woman later claimed that her breakup with the father of her child affected her.

The woman confessed to the press that she attacked her child because she despised herself and had endured great suffering with the child.

“Because I do not love myself, I chose to end my daughter’s life,” the woman explained.

An online video depicted the woman repeatedly stabbing the child while reciting the alphabet. According to reports, the woman’s parents were out of town at the time of the crime.

The neighbors reported to the police that the woman locked herself in the house and began to play with the infant.

They rushed to the house as soon as they heard her shattering kitchenware.

They were unable to enter, so they were forced to watch helplessly from the window as the woman stabbed the child. Nonetheless, they called the police to report the incident and request their assistance.

The woman was rushed to the Kitengela Sub-County Hospital after she became unconscious following the incident. According to reports, she was overcome with guilt.

Benson Mutia, the head of the Kitengela Directorate of Criminal Investigations, stated that investigations would continue despite the confession and hoped that she would provide a statement on the matter.

The woman will also be subjected to a mental examination to determine whether she was of sound mind at the time of the crime.

“This is a strange occurrence. We will interrogate her to determine the motive for the murder. We also wish to determine whether the murder was premeditated,” he disclosed.

This is the second incident of this type to occur in Kitengela within a week.

On Friday, April 21, a 22-year-old woman was brutally murdered inside a popular restaurant in Kitengela; a love triangle was suspected. The woman, the daughter of a senior police officer, died instantly from her injuries. The police arrested and detained her lover, who had been nearly lynched by an enraged mob.
