Kenyan workers mandated to contribute 3% for Housing Fund – President Ruto
President William Ruto stated that the government will bolster the Housing Fund to assist more Kenyans in acquiring affordable housing.
As the government rolls out the affordable housing program, there must be a solid plan to address the financing of low-income earners to purchase the units, according to the President.
He stated that Kenyans will now contribute 3% of their income and embark on the path to home ownership.
“Every employee who contributes 3% will be required by law to have their employer contribute 3% to the Housing fund,” he added.
During the church service and the opening of Friends Church (Quakers) in Donholm, Nairobi County, he spoke.
Musalia Mudavadi, his wife Tessie, Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Affirmative Action, Gender Aisha Jumwa, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, and several members of parliament were present.
The President stated that the program will also benefit government employees.
President Ruto stated that the government’s plan to increase members’ contributions to the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has increased the nation’s savings.

He stated that the move will assist the country in managing its foreign debt through domestic borrowing.
“In just two months, we’ve doubled the amount of money we save as a nation,” he stated.
The President stated that the government is also collaborating with the Nairobi county government to clean and green the city.
“We will not only clean up the city of Nairobi, but we will also generate electricity from the city’s garbage,” he said.
The Head of State assured the residents of Nairobi that the government will increase the number of affordable housing units to ensure that they live in suitable dwellings.
Mr. Mudavadi urged Kenyans to have patience while the government restores the economy.
“It will take time, consistency, dedication, and sacrifices to get there,” he said.
Mr. Sakaja stated that the government’s digitization initiative will transform the delivery of services.
In addition to increasing the county’s revenue collection, the digitalized system will improve service delivery, he added.
In addition, President Ruto requested that the opposition utilize the bipartisan committee to address issues of concern.
The President stated that violent protests have done nothing but disrupt and destroy Kenyans’ livelihoods.
