14 Bodies were Exhumed and 5 Relatives were Found in a Single Grave in Malindi Cult Case

Kilifi- Homicide Investigators and Crime Scene Analysts discovered seven shallow graves. They exhumed 14 bodies from the vault in Shakahola Forest in Malindi, Kilifi County.

This brings the total number of bodies exhumed in two days to 21, up from 65.

Concerns have been raised about the number of Good News International Church members who may have died while fasting, as encouraged by their controversial pastor Paul Mackenzie after 5 bodies believed to be from one family were discovered piled in one grave and 3 bodies believed to be from another family were discovered in another shallow grave.

Rights activist Human rights advocates are concerned about a recent crime they call the worst.

Haki Africa director Khalid Hussein said five bodies exhumed from a single grave may be related.

“They discovered a father, mother, and three children in one grave. We suspect that they are family members,” Hussein stated.

Hussein said Shakahola Forest is worse than all the nation’s tragedies.

“This exceeds the Waghala Massacre, Yalla, and the Tana River. Even those who are almost dead are being killed by others so that it appears as if they have completed their mission,” the outspoken human rights activist stated.

Every Church, Mosque, Temple, and Synagogue must belong to a registered structured framework, according to the head of Haki Africa, who cautioned that people should not come from anywhere in the name of a spiritual calling and begin to lead people down a suicide path.

The majority of victims are youngsters. The majority of victims, according to Malindi Social Justice Officer Victor Kaudo, are children, he stated.

“Children are the majority of victims, which means he began by forcing children and tarnishing the Republic of Kenya’s reputation,” said Kaudo.

The frustrated pastor is still in police custody for promoting a cult-like doctrine that advocates starving followers to death so they can ascend to heaven and meet their creator.

Numerous adherents of the controversial religion have sold a portion of their property. They left their homes before traveling to Malindi to participate in the killer fast.

As the search enters its third day with a total of 29 confirmed deaths, 65 graves have been located since the homicide detectives launched their rescue operation in Shakahola Forest.

More graves will increase the death toll.
