    EACC Addresses Raiding Wetang’ula’s Residence

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has dismissed claims that it intends to raid the home of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangโ€™ula.

Viral posts on social media suggested that the anti-graft body was preparing to storm the Speakerโ€™s residence. However, checks by Kenyans.co.ke confirm the reports are false.

EACC officials described the claims as misleading and without any factual basis.

โ€œIgnore those reports. They are fake,โ€ the Commission told this publication in a phone interview.

The false reports surfaced after President William Ruto warned that MPs and Senators accused of soliciting or receiving bribes would face arrest and prosecution.

Speaking on Monday during a Kenya Kwanzaโ€“ODM joint parliamentary meeting, the President strongly criticized legislators, particularly committee members, for allegedly demanding bribes to influence decisions.

The Head of Stateโ€™s remarks triggered a standoff between Parliament and the Executive. On Tuesday, National Assembly committees boycotted sittings in protest, effectively grounding House business. Senate committees, however, proceeded with meetings but did so under protest.

    Wetangโ€™ula in Mombasa Retreat

While the rumours circulated, Speaker Wetangโ€™ula was in Mombasa leading MPs in a two-day retreat with the Judiciary.

The retreat brought together PSC Commissioners, Speakers Panel members, committee leaders, women representatives, and Budget Committee members. The meeting aimed at strengthening collaboration, reviewing Parliamentโ€™s mandate, and enhancing unity for effective service delivery.
