KDF Soldier Found Dead in His Nairobi House

Detectives from the police and military have opened investigations after the body of a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier was discovered inside his house in the Sunton area of Nairobi.

According to police, the cause of death of the Kenya Navy officer is still unknown.

Residents of the apartment block in Maji Mazuri, Kasarani, said they were alarmed by a strong foul smell coming from the ground floor on the morning of Wednesday, August 20. When they broke into the house, they found the decomposed body of Sergeant Ezekiel Kiprop, 33, lying on his bed.

The shocked neighbours immediately alerted police officers, who then informed officials from the nearby Kahawa Barracks.

Military Police and regular police officers confirmed that the body had no visible injuries. The remains were later moved to the mortuary for post-mortem examination.

Neighbours told investigators that the soldier lived alone and had not been seen for several days, which they found unusual.

Authorities say the cause of death is still under investigation, with officers looking into the possibility of natural causes. Officials also noted that such unexplained deaths have been rising among members of the disciplined forces.

    Similar Incident in Homa Bay

In a separate case in Asumbi, Homa Bay County, residents of Kagan village also discovered the body of a woman inside her house.

She was later identified as Rosemary Adhiambo, 53. Locals said they became suspicious after noticing a bad smell coming from her home.

The woman, who lived alone, had not been seen for days. Police said the cause of death was not immediately clear. Her body was taken to the mortuary for autopsy and further investigations.
