Gachagua Confirms Plan to Take Ruto to ICC

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced the formation of a special task force to collect evidence with the aim of taking President William Ruto to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Speaking to Kenyans living in Seattle, Washington State, on Friday, Gachagua claimed that the recent wave of killings and abductions in Kenya are crimes that fall under the ICC’s jurisdiction. He stressed that those responsible must be held accountable under international law.

“I have formed a dedicated team to document all the serious crimes happening in Kenya — from killings and abductions to forced disappearances and internal displacements,” Gachagua said.

He further alleged, “Our team is compiling strong evidence to take William Ruto to the ICC in The Hague.”

Gachagua also mentioned that Ruto’s earlier ICC case, related to the 2007-08 post-election violence, was not closed but only postponed. He now intends to reopen the matter by adding fresh evidence of current events. The former deputy president said the previous case was suspended due to missing witnesses, but this time, his team is prepared to ensure justice is served.

He criticized the current security situation in Kenya, saying that many citizens now live in constant fear. According to a report by the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR), over 30 people were killed during the recent Saba Saba protests. The demonstrations sparked violent clashes between protesters and police in Nairobi and other parts of the country.

KNCHR further accused law enforcement officers of working with armed gangs who attacked demonstrators using crude weapons like machetes and spears.

In light of these events, Gachagua urged Kenyans living abroad to join hands with those at home in the fight to hold Ruto accountable.

“This is a national struggle, and I invite all of you to be part of it. The only way to save our country is to remove Ruto from office. Each one of us must rise and play a part in liberating Kenya,” he told the diaspora community.

Gachagua is currently on a tour of the United States to promote his “Wantam” agenda and rally support among Kenyans overseas.
