Former Arsenal Footballer Thomas Partey Charged with Rape
Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has officially been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, according to the Metropolitan Police.
The alleged incidents happened between 2021 and 2022 and involve three different women. Two rape charges are linked to one woman, three more to a second woman, and the sexual assault charge relates to a third woman.
Partey, who is 32 years old, recently left Arsenal after his contract expired on Monday. He had been with the club since 2020.
Police say the charges follow an investigation launched in February 2022, after they received an initial rape complaint.

Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, who is leading the case, said the focus is on supporting the women involved. He urged anyone with more information, or those affected by the case, to contact the police via CIT@met.police.uk.
Thomas Partey, who lives in Hertfordshire, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 5.
Partey joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in 2020 for £45.3 million. Last season, he played 35 Premier League matches and scored four goals, helping Arsenal secure second place. He also featured in 12 Champions League games, with Arsenal reaching the semi-finals before being eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain.
In total, Partey made 130 league appearances under manager Mikel Arteta, scoring nine goals. He has also represented Ghana in several international matches.
