Robert Alai Defends Himself Against Land Dispute Allegations in Runda

Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has strongly responded to claims by a local investor who accused him of illegally taking over a piece of land in Runda. The investor, who has taken the matter to court, has also been targeting Alai online, accusing him of misconduct.

In a statement issued on June 30, Alai said the investor and his lawyer have been running a smear campaign on social media, aiming to damage his reputation since the court case began.

Alai also criticized The Standard newspaper, accusing it of spreading the same narrative without verifying the facts.

โ€œIโ€™m forced to speak out because of the ongoing harassment, character attacks, and public shaming,โ€ Alai said.

He believes the online attacks are a deliberate move to influence the court’s decision using public pressure rather than legal evidence. He questioned the investorโ€™s trust in the legal process and raised doubts about his integrity.

According to Alai, the investor previously hired 500 individuals to damage property on the disputed land while the case was still in court. He also accused the complainant of involving at least six other people in efforts to intimidate him and the court.

Alai maintained that he has followed all legal procedures and called on the investor to do the same, warning that online smear tactics could backfire legally.

โ€œThe case is currently before the court. Any complaints should be handled legally, not through media or social media campaigns,โ€ he said.

โ€œUsing defamatory or bullying tactics wonโ€™t help your case and could land you in more trouble under Kenyan law, including the Defamation Act and the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act. I advise you to stop immediately and let the court decide based on facts.โ€

This comes just days after a video surfaced online showing the investor accusing Alai of forcefully evicting him from the property. The investorโ€™s lawyer even alleged that his client was assaulted during the confrontation.

The investor further claimed he had owned the land for 33 years before Alai and his team allegedly took control, which led to the court battle.
