Gachagua Strikes Back- Ex-DP Storms Back With New Party, DCP — Promises to “Listen to Kenyans”
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has officially launched his new political party, the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).
Speaking during the party’s unveiling at its headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi, Gachagua revealed that he has spent the past six months consulting from his home, planning the party’s direction and goals.
He explained that the new party was born out of a strong desire to offer better leadership to Kenyans and help solve long-standing issues caused by bad governance.
“Kenyans have spoken loudly. They want a party that gives power back to the people,” Gachagua said.
He added that DCP belongs to the people and will not favor any specific candidates. Instead, the party will focus on listening to the voices of ordinary Kenyans. That’s why the party’s slogan is “Skiza Wakenya”, meaning “Listen to Kenyans.”
Gachagua emphasized that DCP is inclusive, and the leadership team features diverse representatives from across Kenya, including youths and Gen Z.
The party’s symbol is a hand holding an ear, representing the idea of actively listening to Kenyans. Its official colors are green, red, white, and black.
