Details of Late Night Meeting to Spare Ruto from Embarrassment in Mt Kenya

Outgoing Mbeere North Member of Parliament (MP) Geoffrey Ruku has stepped in to ensure the success of President William Ruto’s planned visit to Embu in the Mt. Kenya region. The visit, scheduled for the Presidentโ€™s last day in the region, faced a potential disruption due to tensions within the Embu County Assembly (MCAs).

Tensions Between MCAs and Governor Mbarire

Reports indicate that several MCAs had threatened to disrupt the visit in protest against Governor Cecily Mbarire. These MCAs claimed they were excluded from the planning of the visit, and as a result, they vowed to create chaos and disrupt the event. Their frustration with the governor boiled over during an emergency meeting at the Embu County Assembly.

A faction of the MCAs accused the governor of not only excluding them from the planning but also blocking them from attending the visit. This anger led them to threaten the disbandment of the Governorโ€™s Delivery Unit (GDU), which is responsible for overseeing key developmental projects in the county.

    Geoffrey Rukuโ€™s Intervention

The escalating tensions caught the attention of MP Geoffrey Ruku, who immediately intervened to help resolve the dispute. Ruku, known for his leadership in the region, held a closed-door meeting with the MCAs for over an hour. His efforts paid off as he managed to calm the situation and ease the friction between the MCAs and the governor.

After the meeting, the MCAs reversed their stance and expressed their full support for President Rutoโ€™s visit. Ruku, who is also the nominee for Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS), dismissed the conflict as a scheme by those opposed to development.

    President Ruto’s Visit to Embu

The President is expected to start his tour of Embu on Friday, beginning with Mbeere South Sub-County. This visit is part of his ongoing developmental tour across the Mt. Kenya region. President Ruto will oversee key infrastructure projects, including road improvements, affordable housing, fresh produce markets, and increased electricity connectivity.

Ahead of the visit, Embu town has been cleaned, and security measures have been heightened to ensure the success of the event. President Ruto has used these regional tours to promote peace and unity among Kenyans, encouraging citizens to set aside political differences in favor of development.

    A Promising Future for Embu

With the tension now resolved, the Presidentโ€™s visit to Embu is expected to go ahead as planned. It marks another step in President Rutoโ€™s efforts to improve infrastructure and promote unity across the country. The visit is a testament to the importance of collaboration between local leaders, the governor, and national leadership in driving development.
