Crowd Walks Out on Ruto Rally as MP Kimani Ichung’wah Faces Public Rejection Again
A surprising moment unfolded on Friday, April 4, during President William Ruto’s rally in Tharaka Nithi when a large section of the crowd walked out just as Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah rose to speak.
According to footage obtained by Gossipa2z.com, the crowd began to disperse the moment Ichung’wah took the microphone. At first, the camera showed a wide view of the event, but as people started leaving, the footage quickly zoomed in to focus only on Ichung’wah. Despite this attempt to hide the incident, viewers could still see people walking away in the background.
Interestingly, Ichung’wah appeared unaware of the situation and continued speaking to the smaller crowd that remained. This walkout comes just a day after the MP was heckled by a hostile crowd during another event in the Mt. Kenya region, where he was again accompanying the president.
During that previous rally at Ol Kalou Town, Ruto was launching the Last Mile Connectivity project. In videos seen by Gossipa2z.com, Ichung’wah faced jeers and whistles while trying to address the crowd. The noise forced him to pause.

Still, the lawmaker tried to hold his ground, saying:
“Let me tell you. No one can shout me down. I cannot be intimidated.”
But after continued heckling, Ichung’wah eventually gave up the microphone and stepped back, insisting that he wouldn’t be shaken by the protests.
The growing tension around Ichung’wah and the president’s rallies almost led to more chaos in Embu County. On Thursday night, just hours before Ruto’s scheduled visit to Embu, a crisis meeting was held between outgoing Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku and local MCAs.
Reports had suggested that MCAs were planning to disrupt the president’s visit in protest against Governor Cecily Mbarire, claiming they were excluded from organizing the event. In frustration, they had allegedly planned to cause chaos during the rally to show their displeasure.
Thankfully, the late-night meeting helped calm things down. After the discussion, the MCAs agreed to support Ruto’s visit, reversing their earlier plan.
