Donald Trump Appoints Daughter’s Father-in-Law, Massad Boulos, as Senior Advisor for Africa
Washington, D.C. – April 2, 2025
U.S. President Donald Trump has named Massad Boulos, the father-in-law of his daughter Tiffany Trump, as his new Senior Advisor for Africa. This appointment adds to Boulos’ existing role as Senior Advisor to the President on Arab and Middle Eastern Affairs.
The U.S. State Department spokesperson, Tammy Bruce, confirmed the appointment on Tuesday.
“The Department of State is pleased to announce the appointment of Massad Boulos as Senior Advisor for Africa. Senior Advisor Boulos also serves as Senior Advisor to the President on Arab and Middle Eastern Affairs,” Bruce stated.
Boulos’ First Assignment: East Africa Visit
Boulos’ first major task in this new role is a diplomatic visit to East Africa. He is set to travel to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Rwanda, Kenya, and Uganda to address ongoing conflicts in Eastern DRC. The trip begins on Thursday, April 3, 2025.
Accompanying him on this trip will be Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Corina Sanders. They plan to meet with Heads of State, business leaders, and key stakeholders in the region.
“Senior Advisor Boulos and the team will work on promoting lasting peace in Eastern DRC and encouraging U.S. private sector investments in the region,” Bruce added.
Who is Massad Boulos?
Massad Fares Boulos is a Lebanese-American businessman with deep political and business connections. He is well known for his work in Nigeria, where he has managed companies in the trucking and heavy machinery industries.
Boulos is also the father of Michael Boulos, who is married to Tiffany Trump, making him President Trump’s in-law.
Another Trump In-Law in the Administration
Boulos is now the second in-law to receive a role in Trump’s government. Last year, Trump appointed Charles Kushner, Ivanka Trump’s father-in-law, as U.S. Ambassador to France.
This appointment highlights Trump’s strategy of bringing trusted allies into key diplomatic positions as he continues his second term as U.S. President.
