Governor Mutahi Kahiga Praises President Ruto for Nyeri Visit

Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga has thanked President William Ruto for visiting Nyeri County.

Speaking on Tuesday, April 1, Kahiga said that Nyeri residents deserve government projects since they supported the current administration in the 2022 General Elections.

He dismissed critics opposing Rutoโ€™s visit, saying that the Presidentโ€™s presence is important for development.

โ€œThe President should not be told not to come to Nyeri; we want him to come again and again to bring us development. We are the ones who voted for this government, and we deserve development,โ€ he said.

Past Concerns Over Deputy Presidentโ€™s Visit

Kahigaโ€™s remarks come two months after he expressed frustration over Deputy President Kithure Kindikiโ€™s visit to Nyeri County without informing his office.

Speaking on Wednesday, February 5, Kahiga called the lack of communication disrespectful. He said he did not know the reason for Kindikiโ€™s visit and was unsure if he was supposed to attend any event.

**โ€œThe other day, I saw the Deputy President in Nyeri. I donโ€™t understand why some people want conflicts for no reason. The Governorโ€™s office represents the people.

โ€œWhen a high-ranking leader visits, we should be informed. In this case, we were not notified. We just heard he was in the county. Is that right?โ€** he asked.

    Call for Cooperation Between Governments

Kahiga emphasized that national and county governments should work together for the benefit of the people.

โ€œOffices should respect each other. When they invite me to meetings in Nairobi, I attend. The National and County governments should cooperate,โ€ he added.

The Governorโ€™s comments highlight the need for better coordination between leaders to ensure smooth governance and effective service delivery to the people of Nyeri County.
