Ugandan Man Arrested in Naivasha After Confessing to Killing Wife Over Supper Dispute

A Ugandan man who stabbed his wife to death for cooking omena instead of meat for supper has been arrested in Naivasha, Kenya. The suspect confessed to a motorist about the crime, leading to his capture by police.

    How the Arrest Happened

On Monday night, around 10 PM, the suspect flagged down a motorist along the Gilgil-Naivasha road and requested a ride to Nairobi. During their conversation, he admitted to killing his wife over domestic issues in Lwakhakha village, near the Kenya-Uganda border. Shocked by the confession, the motorist drove him to the Naivasha police station and handed him over to authorities.

    Police Take Action

The suspect was immediately taken into custody, awaiting transfer to Uganda. Authorities have contacted Ugandan officials to arrange for a smooth handover and further legal action. Police confirmed that he will face trial where the crime was committed.

    The Deadly Dispute

According to reports, the suspect killed his 28-year-old wife on March 14 in Bukitongo B village, Bumwoni sub-county, Namisindwa district. Neighbors said the couple frequently argued. Their 10-year-old son discovered his motherโ€™s death and alerted the community.

A local official revealed that the suspect became angry when he found omena (silverfish) and posho for supper instead of meat. A fight broke out, leading to the wifeโ€™s tragic death.

    Familyโ€™s Painful Loss

Relatives of the deceased shared that she had previously left her marital home due to disputes but was advised by her mother to return and raise her children. Sadly, she was killed soon after returning.

    Legal Proceedings

Namisindwa District Police Commander Richard Richman confirmed that a murder case has been officially registered at Namisindwa Central Police Station. The victim was buried on March 14 at her parentsโ€™ home in Bunende village, Namisindwa district.

Authorities are continuing investigations to ensure justice is served. The case highlights the dangers of domestic violence and the need for conflict resolution support in marriages.
