Trump Launches Self-Deportation App & Asks Immigrants, Including Kenyans, to Self-Deport or Face Consequences

United States President Donald Trump has launched a new self-deportation initiative, encouraging all undocumented immigrants to use the recently introduced Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Home application to register and leave the country voluntarily.

The U.S. government states that this approach provides undocumented immigrants with a legal opportunity to depart and potentially re-enter in the future.

    Impact on Kenyan Immigrants

According to the International Migrant Stock 2020 dataset by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the United States hosts 157,000 Kenyan migrants, with approximately 30,000 living unlawfully. These individuals face a high risk of permanent expulsion from the country if they fail to self-deport.

The CBP Home app allows immigrants to register their intent to leave, submit their personal details, upload a photo, and declare whether they have sufficient funds for travel.

    Trumpโ€™s Statement on Self-Deportation

President Trump emphasized that undocumented individuals must choose between voluntary departure or forced removal.

โ€œPeople in our country unlawfully can self-deport the easy way or get deported the hard way. My administration is launching the CBP Home app to give these individuals an opportunity to leave voluntarily. If they comply, they may have a chance to return legally in the future.โ€

    He further warned:

โ€œIf they do not take this opportunity, they will be found, deported, and permanently banned from the United States.โ€

    Why the U.S. Supports Self-Deportation

The U.S. government states that self-deportation is the safest and most efficient option for unlawful immigrants while also reducing the strain on law enforcement resources. This initiative aims to save taxpayer dollars and enable Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to focus on high-priority cases, such as individuals with criminal records.

    What Happens Next?

All undocumented immigrants are urged to download the CBP Home app, available on major app stores, and register for self-deportation. Failure to comply may lead to forced removal by ICE, with individuals facing deportation in chains and a permanent ban from the U.S.

โ€œDo it right and come back legally in the future. Do it wrong, and you will never return,โ€ Trump warned.

    Trumpโ€™s Immigration Crackdown

Since taking office in January, President Trump has prioritized mass deportations as part of his campaign promise to eliminate unlawful immigration. His administration continues to take aggressive measures to ensure compliance with U.S. immigration laws.

For undocumented immigrants in the U.S., the choice is clear: self-deport now or risk permanent expulsion.
