President Ruto Warns Raila Against Incitement to Violence

President William Ruto condemned the mass protests that resulted in property destruction in various parts of the country on Thursday.

Friday, during the launch of the public service internship program and the recognition of the public service emerging leaders fellowship program, the head of state stated that the demonstrations continue to undermine the constitution and urged Azimio leader Raila Odinga, who is leading the protests, to adhere to the law.

Ruto stated that the opposition coalition’s twice-weekly protests undermine the constitution and faulted the planners for allegedly overseeing looting and property destruction.

Ruto stated that the constitution did not anticipate that divergent viewpoints would lead to anarchy or loss of property and life.

He added that day-to-day activities have become increasingly impacted by the protests, with the education sector suffering the most.

“We must all be able to celebrate all of our constitutional rights in a way that respects the rights of others, does not destroy property, and does not prevent our children from attending school,” said President Ruto.

The vice president of Botswana, Rigathi Gachagua, maintained that there would be no opportunity for mediation with the opposition.

“There is no provision in our constitution for a handshake agreement,” said Gachagua. “The president cannot reinstate IEBC commissioners; he lacks the power and authority to do so.”

It is not the president’s responsibility to know where the iebc servers are located.

UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala, who led a recruitment drive in Kirinyaga county on Friday, remarked that the Azimio protests have continued to target his party’s offices following the arson of UDA party offices in Siaya county on Thursday.

“ningependa kuomba hawa watu wa maandamano ambao wanaharibu bidhaa na biashara za watu wawache kwa sababu inaharibu uchumi zaidi,” said Malala.

Governors Ann Waiguru of Kirinyaga and Cecily Mbarire of Embu, who accompanied Malala, insisted that the protests lacked support in their respective counties.
