US Donates 20 More Armored Vehicles to Boost Haiti Peacekeeping Mission
The United States has supplied Haiti with 20 additional armored personnel carriers to strengthen its ongoing peacekeeping mission.
Confirming the delivery on Thursday, February 20, the US Department of State emphasized that the vehicles are essential in tackling gang violence in the crisis-hit nation.
According to the US government, the armored carriers will support the 1,000 Multinational Security Support (MSS) officers currently stationed in Haiti.
“The 20 new armored vehicles in Port-au-Prince will enhance security for the 1,000 MSS personnel in Haiti, improving safety for both the country and the region,” the US government stated.
Footage shared by the American authorities showed the jungle-green carriers being unloaded from massive containers shortly after arriving in Port-au-Prince.

This deployment comes just two weeks after Kenya sent 144 additional police officers, including an elite all-female SWAT unit, to combat gang violence. Kenya’s latest deployment brings the total number of its officers in Haiti to 744.
Other countries contributing to the United Nations-led mission include Guatemala, El Salvador, Jamaica, and Belize, with their officers also assisting in the security operation.
Meanwhile, the donation follows speculation that former President Donald Trump had halted key funding for the peacekeeping mission.
However, the US government dismissed these claims, affirming its continued financial support. On February 6, the US Embassy in Haiti announced that Trump’s administration would maintain funding, covering vehicle maintenance, logistical contracts, and medical services for peacekeepers.
“The United States has not stopped assistance for the Multinational Security Support mission in Haiti. Secretary Rubio approved waivers to ensure millions of dollars in crucial aid for MSS and the Haitian National Police (HNP),” the embassy confirmed.
