Kithure Kindiki Jets Out to Mozambique – Key Details Revealed

Kenya’s Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has traveled to Mozambique to represent the country at the inauguration of Mozambique’s President-Elect Daniel Francisco Chapo.

In a statement made on Wednesday, January 15, Kindiki shared that before leaving, he met with Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, Somalia’s Foreign Affairs Minister, at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

The minister was on his way back to Somalia from Cairo, Egypt. Kindiki stated, “I am traveling to Maputo to represent Kenya at the inauguration of Mozambique’s President-Elect. Before my departure, I had the chance to discuss matters with Somalia’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, who was transiting through Nairobi.”

This trip by Deputy President Kindiki coincides with President William Ruto’s international travel. President Ruto left Kenya on Monday, January 13, for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to attend the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) Summit.

State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed revealed that President Ruto was set to give a keynote address during the opening session of the summit.

In addition to his summit address, President Ruto held bilateral discussions with top global leaders, including UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

While in the UAE, on Tuesday, January 14, President Ruto oversaw the signing of the Kenya-United Arab Emirates Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). This agreement aims to strengthen trade relations between the two countries.

President Ruto highlighted that the partnership is expected to significantly boost Kenya’s exports of products like meat, fruits, vegetables, tea, coffee, and cut flowers.

It will also open up opportunities for UAE investments in Kenya’s energy, water, agriculture, health, airport infrastructure, logistics, and ICT sectors.
