Three Suspects Arrested in Connection with Brutal Murder of Kilifi IEBC Official
Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the murder of Aisha Abubakar, an IEBC official in Kilifi County, after a week-long search by authorities.
On Monday, January 13, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed the arrests of Isa Omari, Brian Shikuku Mudari, and Bryan Templer Oyare. The suspects were apprehended after detailed forensic investigations into the attack, which took place on January 5, 2025.
The tragic incident occurred during the early hours when intruders broke into Aisha’s home. Reports indicate that the attackers forced their way in by cutting through the kitchen windowโs metal grills.
According to the DCI, the intruders were armed with crude weapons. They overpowered Aishaโs son by knocking him unconscious before turning on Aisha herself. Despite her desperate pleas for mercy, the attackers repeatedly stabbed her, leaving her critically injured.

After the assault, the criminals fled with several valuable items, including two Samsung phones, an iPad, a 65-inch television, a sound system, and ATM cards. They had also forced Aisha to reveal the PIN codes for the cards.
Neighbors and Good Samaritans quickly came to Aisha’s aid, rushing her to Premier Hospital in Nyali. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The DCI, supported by the Operation Support Unit (OSU) and the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau, immediately launched a thorough investigation into the case. Their efforts led to the arrest of the three suspects. Authorities recovered one of the phones stolen from Aisha’s son, along with other vital evidence.
The suspects are now in police custody as investigations continue to uncover more details about the crime.
