Education CS Julius Ogamba Denies Resignation Rumors Amid Viral Fake Post
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has refuted claims that he has resigned from his position. On Monday, January 13, he addressed a viral post circulating on social media, which falsely alleged that he had stepped down due to the government’s inaction on the increasing cases of abductions in the country.
The fabricated post suggested that Ogamba had submitted a resignation letter to President William Ruto, citing differences in leadership style and principles.
It claimed that Ogamba was frustrated by the administration’s failure to uphold basic rights and ensure the safety and dignity of citizens, despite his efforts to make education accessible to all Kenyans.
The fake post also accused the government of neglecting critical issues, such as abductions, disappearances, and killings, which have reportedly caused widespread fear and suffering among families.

It even quoted a supposed resignation statement from Ogamba, where he allegedly declared his decision to resign as a move to uphold his values and commitment to justice, equality, and human rights.
In his clarification, Ogamba dismissed these allegations as false and urged Kenyans to be wary of fake social media accounts impersonating him. “Beware of a fake X account purporting to be the Cabinet Secretary for Education,” Ogamba stated, emphasizing that the claims were baseless and intended to mislead the public.
The clarification came shortly after Peter Mbae, Head of Government Delivery Services, officially announced his resignation. Mbae cited unresolved challenges in his role, which he had previously raised with the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei. In his resignation letter dated January 9, Mbae noted that these issues had hindered his ability to effectively perform his duties.
Mbae explained that his decision to step down was made in good faith, allowing him to explore other professional opportunities. He expressed confidence in returning to his previous career, stating, “I was professional in my own right before joining government, so I will go back to what I was doing.”
