Charlene Ruto Unveils Sh194K Youth Contest: How to Join
President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene Ruto, has announced an exciting opportunity for young Kenyans in the web design sector.
The competition, organized by The Young People’s Network International (TYPNI) under Charlene’s patronage, offers a cash prize of $1,500 (approximately Ksh 194,000) for the winners.
Eligible participants, aged between 18 and 35 years, have until February 11, 2025, to submit their entries. Contestants are required to provide links to three websites they have designed, a brief technical proposal for a website tailored for TYPNI, and the IDs and profiles of all three team members.

Since her father took office, Charlene has actively participated in youth empowerment initiatives, meeting local leaders and attending international forums to champion youth and climate change advocacy.
Previously, Charlene stirred debate by referring to her initiatives as being managed by the “Office of the First Daughter,” sparking questions about its funding. She later clarified that the office is a private entity, independent of taxpayer funding, focused solely on supporting her programs.
“The Office of the First Daughter is a private initiative. It is neither a constitutional office nor taxpayer-funded. Its purpose is to facilitate activities and programs led by Ms. Charlene Ruto,” read part of her statement.
Despite its private status, Charlene noted the office collaborates with various stakeholders to promote youth-driven agendas and climate action.
