Details of Ruto’s Trip to Uganda
President William Ruto departed Kenya on Saturday morning to participate in the African Union Extraordinary Summit on the Post-Malabo Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP).
The summit, hosted in Kampala, Uganda, aims to review progress toward agricultural development goals and adopt the Kampala Declaration, which will outline a vision for transforming Africa’s agri-food systems from 2026 to 2035.
State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed stated that the summit’s outcomes are expected to shape agricultural policies focused on boosting economic growth and ensuring food security across Africa.
CAADP is a flagship initiative under the African Union’s Agenda 2063 that seeks to eliminate hunger and poverty through agriculture-driven development and the transformation of agri-food systems.

President Ruto will also showcase Kenya’s initiatives to improve food security, reduce poverty, generate jobs, and promote sustainable growth. Hussein noted that these efforts align with Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda and Vision 2030.
On the sidelines of the summit, President Ruto is set to meet with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and other leaders to advance regional priorities.
The discussions will also focus on building consensus and support for his role as Champion of AU Institutional Reforms, ahead of his upcoming progress report on the reform agenda.
This marks President Ruto’s third international trip in 2025. Earlier this week, he attended the inauguration of Ghana’s President John Mahama, where he engaged with various leaders. He also recently visited Angola for high-level discussions before returning to Kenya.
