Kindiki Breaks Silence on Weeks-Long Disappearance

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has dismissed rumors of a fallout with President William Ruto, clarifying his recent absence from public engagements.

After weeks away from the limelight, Kindiki reappeared on Saturday at a wedding in Tigoni, Kiambu County. Addressing speculation, he explained that his absence was due to a personal holiday and not linked to any alleged tensions with the President.

โ€œIโ€™ve been on a short holiday, which is almost over,โ€ Kindiki said. โ€œPlease ignore all the rumors; they are baseless.โ€

Reports of a possible rift surfaced after Kindiki, a regular presence alongside Ruto since assuming office in November, skipped key events, including the funeral of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangโ€™ulaโ€™s mother.

During the wedding ceremony for the son of Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano, Kindiki emphasized unity, urging Kenyans to avoid distractions and focus on supporting the governmentโ€™s development agenda.

โ€œLetโ€™s not get caught up in trivialities. This year, we must unite to support the President and push Kenya forward,โ€ he added.

Kindiki also expressed gratitude for the Presidentโ€™s understanding, stating that the short break had left him re-energized to serve the nation.

Digital strategists linked to Kindiki have worked to quell online speculations about his whereabouts, reminding Kenyans of a similar absence in May 2022. Back then, then-Deputy President William Ruto unveiled Rigathi Gachagua as his running mate in Kindikiโ€™s absence.

Other prominent leaders present at the Tigoni event included Defense CS Soipan Tuya, Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen, Water CS Eric Mugaa, Attorney General Dorcas Oduor, and Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku.
