Gachagua Claps Back at Ichung’wah Over Abduction Links
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has refuted allegations by National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungโwah accusing him of orchestrating abductions of Kenyans.ย ย
Speaking on Friday, January 3, at the funeral of Eric Mutugi, son of former Embu Speaker Lenny Kivuti, Gachagua dismissed the claims as baseless, labeling them a diversionary tactic by the government.
โThe government is struggling to handle my honesty on critical issues,โ Gachagua remarked, adding that persistent lies and deceit are the root cause of the allegations.
Gachagua urged the government to provide answers about the fate of recently abducted youths, stating: โThe president has denied evidence of abductions several times, yet his allies now accuse me of being behind these incidents. Kenyans deserve the truth.โ

He further called on authorities to release the missing youths and criticized the government for underestimating the intelligence of Kenyans. โYouโve lied so much that you now believe your own lies. Kenyans are watching,โ he said.
During the funeral, Gachagua also took a swipe at Members of Parliament present, accusing them of allowing themselves to be manipulated to divide their political bases. โHow foolish can you be? Someone lied to you with a Bible, and now youโre fighting your own brother. Remember, these voters will hold you accountable,โ he warned.
The remarks were in response to accusations made by Ichungโwah earlier during the burial of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangโulaโs mother in Bungoma. Ichungโwah alleged that Gachagua was behind the abductions to tarnish President William Rutoโs reputation.
