Kindiki’s Absence Sparks Curiosity at Ruto’s New Year Bash in Kisii
President William Ruto held a New Year’s celebration at the Kisii State Lodge on Tuesday, December 31. The event was attended by many high-ranking officials from across the country.
One notable absence at the party was Deputy President Kithure Kindiki. This raised eyebrows, as his absence from such a widely publicized occasion did not go unnoticed.
While President Ruto shared photos and highlights of the event on his social media accounts, Kindiki did not make any mention of it.
Instead, he used his social media platforms to send a New Year’s message to the public, wishing Kenyans a happy and blessed 2025.
His post read, “Happy, blessed, and joyous 2025. God bless your families, and God bless Kenya.”
Kindiki’s decision not to attend the party or acknowledge it online sparked speculation among Kenyans.
Many wondered if this signaled a growing rift between him and President Ruto, even though it has only been a few months since Kindiki assumed the role of deputy president.

Some also compared his absence to that of his predecessor, Rigathi Gachagua, who had previously missed events involving the president, raising questions about whether similar tensions were emerging.
Despite the buzz around Kindiki’s absence, President Ruto stayed focused on the occasion.
As part of the celebration, he led the country in a moment of prayer just before midnight. During his prayer, he expressed gratitude for the accomplishments of 2024, acknowledging the challenges the nation faced along the way.
Ruto emphasized unity and resilience, attributing Kenya’s progress to divine guidance and the collective efforts of its people.
This reflective moment set the tone for welcoming 2025 with hope and optimism.
