Ex-Tahidi High Actor Dies After Suffering Stroke

Celebrated *Tahidi High* actor Xavier Jerry Nato has passed away following a prolonged fight with kidney disease.ย ย

Nato’s death was confirmed on Tuesday, December 31, by his brother Davis Ivor, who shared a heart-wrenching tribute on social media.

“Kabau, they say I have to be strong, but you’ve taken every ounce of my strength. How do I accept you’re gone? When will this pain end? Rest easy, X-man. Love you forever,” Ivor wrote.

Kenyans.co.ke reports that Natoโ€™s health deteriorated significantly after he suffered a stroke, compounding his kidney condition.ย ย

In November, Nato’s family made a public appeal for financial assistance to cover his medical expenses, revealing he needed specialized treatment and care.

The Kenya Theatre Awards mourned his passing, describing Nato as a gifted actor who made a lasting impact on the country’s entertainment industry. “We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Xavier Jerry Nato, a prolific thespian who bravely battled illness,” their statement read.

Tributes have been pouring in from Kenyans, including politician Cleophas Malala, who called Nato a close friend and lamented the loss.

Nato was a beloved figure in the Kenyan entertainment scene, earning accolades for his contributions to the Kenya National Drama and Film Festival, including the 2022 KTA Inaugural Best Playwright Award. He gained national fame for his role in the TV series *Wash Wash*, which aired from 2008 to 2010.

Beyond acting, Nato founded Millaz Productions, an initiative that mentored young creatives aiming to enter Kenya’s arts industry.

His death comes just days after another national tragedyโ€”the loss of volleyball icon Janet Wanja, who succumbed to gallbladder cancer in December.
