“Fake Cops” Raided Kibet Cartoonist’s Nakuru Home Before Mysterious Disappearance
The disappearance of cartoonist Gideon Kibet, also known as Kibet Bull, has caused outrage in Kenya, with citizens and leaders demanding his immediate release.
Kibet was allegedly abducted after meeting Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah on Thursday, December 26, to discuss joining his presidential campaign team.
Omtatah revealed that a suspicious vehicle had followed Kibet to Taj Towers in Nairobi, where it remained parked near his office until their meeting ended.

NTV Kenya reported that on December 26, a group of individuals claiming to be police officers were searching for Kibet hours before his abduction.
The armed and masked men allegedly raided Kibet’s rented house in Green Valley Estate, near Egerton University in Njoro, Nakuru County.

They also broke into a neighbor’s home but left without taking anything after realizing they had targeted the wrong house. The incident was reported at Njoro Police Station under OB number 15/23/12/2024.
How did Kibet Bull gain fame?
Kibet became well-known for his viral cartoons that criticized the government, including images of President William Ruto. He was set to leave for Tel Aviv University in Israel on Friday, December 27, to further his studies. According to Senator Omtatah, Kibet visited him before his scheduled departure.
His abduction adds to a growing list of disappearances, with the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) reporting that 28 other people have gone missing since the protests in June 2024.
