Details of Ruto’s Secret Night Talks with Raila’s Allies
On Tuesday, President William Ruto welcomed MPs from Raila Odinga’s Nyanza stronghold for a meeting at State House.
Sources from The Star have revealed that the well-attended meeting, which began at 7 pm, continued well into the night.
The meeting was shrouded in secrecy, with no pictures released by State House, as is customary for such occasions.
MPs were discreetly mobilized, and those attending the ongoing games in Mombasa took the next available flight to Nairobi, signaling the significance of the discussions.
The lawmakers initially gathered at the office of National Assembly leader Junet Mohammed in Parliament before departing in a long convoy to State House.
Attendees mentioned that the purpose of the meeting was to follow up on several development projects President Ruto had promised the region.
“The meeting went on into the night, and we were just checking in on the projects we discussed during his previous visit to Kisumu,” shared a second-term MP who attended.

Some of the roads discussed for construction included the Muhoroni–Mamboleo and Awasi-Katito roads.
The leaders also urged for the inclusion of the multi-billion Koru-Soin dam, a project raised during the Kisumu State Lodge meeting in August. Other projects mentioned included completing the Kisian-Usenge-Osieko road, tarmacking the Odongo-Uhanya road, and Bondo-Liahanda road.
This was the first occasion President Ruto hosted MPs from the region at State House since the establishment of the inclusive government, which brought together members of the opposition.
In his reshuffled Cabinet, Ruto appointed former lawmakers John Mbadi to manage the country’s finances and Opiyo Wandayi to oversee the critical Energy and Petroleum ministry.
Other Cabinet appointments included Wycliffe Oparanya (Cooperatives), Hassan Joho (Mining), and Beatrice Askul (East African Community), with Mbadi and Wandayi in attendance.
