CS Ogamba Reveals KCSE Results Release Date

Nairobiโ€”Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba announced that over 960,000 candidates who sat for the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams will receive their results in January 2025. However, he did not specify an exact release date.

Speaking during Kabete National Polytechnic’s 5th Graduation Ceremony on December 12, Ogamba noted that the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) examiners are still finalizing the marking process.

He stated, “The marking is ongoing, and once completed, we will release the results. I can’t provide a specific date as the process is still underway.”

The 2024 KCSE exams, held across 10,755 centers, featured theory and practical assessments conducted between October 22 and November 22.

Instances of exam malpractice were minimal, with the Ministry of Education reporting that 621 candidates were involved in irregularities.

These included possession of unauthorized written materials, mobile phones, and collusion with non-candidates.

Investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are ongoing, and on November 5, detectives apprehended a suspect accused of running a Telegram group that leaked exam papers.

Stephen Nyangโ€™au Mbeche, a resident of Nyamira County, was accused of creating and managing the “KCSE 2024 Leakage Group” on Telegram, where he shared exam papers for a fee.

The group, which had attracted 802 members, operated by demanding upfront payments from candidates and parents.

A search of his home led to the confiscation of a mobile phone and laptop used in the operation.

Reports also implicated some teachers in aiding the circulation of leaked papers.

The exam season brought both joy and sorrow. In some centers, candidates gave birth and continued with their exams, while in others, students tragically succumbed to illness or other causes during the examination period.
