Gathoni Wamuchomba Slams Ruto in Fiery Rebuke
Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba criticized President William Ruto on Wednesday over the planned mass vaccination of cattle, expressing her disapproval on her official X account. She accused Ruto of using harsh rhetoric against leaders who question government policies, particularly the livestock vaccination program.
Wamuchomba highlighted her concerns about Ruto’s use of figurative language to dismiss leaders’ objections, calling it disheartening. She argued that such policies directly impact citizens’ welfare and livelihoods and emphasized the need for public participation before implementing such decisions.
The lawmaker pledged to resist the vaccination program, asserting her responsibility to advocate for her constituents’ interests. She condemned what she described as a leadership style intolerant of differing opinions, criticizing the Kenya Kwanza administration for failing to engage with Kenyans on crucial issues.

Her remarks followed Ruto’s comments at the Pastoralist Leadership Summit in Wajir, where he accused dissenting leaders of harboring “evil spirits” and spreading falsehoods. Ruto defended the government’s plan to vaccinate 22 million cows starting in January 2025, stating it was essential for the livestock sector.
Wamuchomba, a staunch ally of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, reaffirmed her commitment to upholding democratic values, warning against political intolerance. She urged Ruto to heed the concerns of voters and religious leaders regarding the Social Health Authority (SHA) and livestock vaccination, emphasizing her duty to act in her constituents’ best interests.
Meanwhile, Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Andrew Karanja assured the public on November 21 that the vaccines are safe, following criticism from Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka. President Ruto had earlier announced the vaccination plan on November 8, 2024, in Narok, stating it was crucial for securing international markets for livestock products.
