Kindiki Reveals Why He Does Not Attend Same Church Service With Ruto

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki clarified on Sunday why he and President William Ruto seldom attend the same church service.

While addressing a Thanksgiving gathering at Friends Church (Quakers) in Navakholo Constituency, Kakamega County, Kindiki shared that the executive branch deliberately opts for separate visits to maximize their interaction with citizens across different regions.ย ย

He explained that attending the same services would limit their ability to connect with more people. “We have chosen to divide ourselves into different groups to reach as many areas as possible. Thatโ€™s why President Ruto is visiting another location today,” Kindiki noted.

The Deputy President has adopted President Rutoโ€™s tradition of attending church services almost every Sunday. However, it is a rare occasion for them to appear together at the same church.

Kindiki emphasized that the separate visits are part of a broader strategy to bring development to all corners of the country. โ€œThis ensures inclusivity for all Kenyans. If we were to remain in one place, progress in delivering development would be slower,โ€ he stated.ย ย

Reassuring Kenyans about the intent behind their separate engagements, Kindiki said itโ€™s a way for the government to connect directly with the people. “Even if some senior leaders are absent today, we are all collaborating for the same goal,” he emphasized.

He added, โ€œMusalia Mudavadi is in Kilifi, and Speaker Moses Wetangula is in Wajir. Meanwhile, some cabinet secretaries are handling tasks in Meru. Those not here are actively contributing to our collective efforts.โ€

Addressing the contentious reconstitution of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Kindiki explained that the delay stems from a court injunction halting the formation of a panel to recruit new officials. He urged critics to avoid politicizing the situation.

Additionally, Kindiki announced a donation of a brand-new bus to the church on behalf of President Ruto. He also pledged to deliver 100 computers to a TVET institution in Navakholo by January 2025.
