Family in Burial Where Gachagua Was Attacked Speaks Out After Chaos Erupts, Curses Laid on Disruptors

The family of Erastus Nduati Muigai, who was amid a burial when goons attacked former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has finally shared their side of the story.

Muigai’s funeral drew numerous leaders, including Gachagua, who was seen peacefully reading the eulogy until chaos suddenly erupted.

Video footage shows the turmoil in Limuru began while former MP Peter Mwathi was addressing the crowd.

The disruptors tore down the VIP tent and started hurling chairs and stones at the vehicles of the former Deputy President and other MPs.

As the violence intensified and mourners scattered, the family of the deceased had to remove the body from the scene quickly.

Did Erastus’ family know the leaders at his burial?

During a press conference, the late Muigaiโ€™s father, Muigai Kingโ€™ori, revealed that none of the leaders had visited his home before his son’s death.

King’ori clarified that locals could confirm he had never interacted with any politicians before the burial.

He dismissed claims that he was involved in a plot to target the former second-in-command.

โ€œNo one in Limuru can claim to have seen me with any politician. They didnโ€™t involve me, and before my sonโ€™s tragic situation, no political figure had ever visited my home. I have no ties to any leaders, and we did not conspire together,โ€ he asserted.

What losses did Erastus’ family incur?

The mourning family further explained that their biggest loss at the burial, besides their son, was the damaged chairs.

They noted that they had rented the chairs and were left with a significant financial burden to replace them until local MP John Kiragu Chege came to their aid.

โ€œOur only issue during the burial was the chairs. The honorable MP supported us, stood by me, and helped provide replacements. I handed them over to the owner,โ€ he said.

An old man curses people who planned chaos.

In a separate incident, an elderly man from Limuru expressed his frustration after the disruption at Nduatiโ€™s funeral, cursing everyone who had been involved in orchestrating the chaos.

Once calm was restored, the elderly resident lamented how a committee had been painstakingly formed to organize the funeral, only for it to be ruined.

He wished that those responsible for the attack on the mourners would one day endure similar suffering.
