Kenyan Radio Presenter Found Dead in Boyfriend’s Home Amid Rising Femicide Cases

In Kahawa West, Kiambu County, authorities are investigating a tragic femicide case following the discovery of a woman’s body in her boyfriend’s home on Friday, November 1. This case adds to the growing concerns over femicide incidents nationwide.

The victim, Lilian Achieng Aluko, is believed to have been violently killed by her boyfriend, who is now missing. Police have launched a full-scale manhunt to locate the suspect.

Lilian, a presenter with the local station Radio 44, was found deceased at her boyfriend’s residence with severe facial injuries and a stab wound on her back.

The 33-year-old informed her family the previous day that she planned to stay at her boyfriend’s, which would be their final contact with her.

“She left around 11 am, saying she was going to see a friend and didn’t return. On Friday, just before 9, an unknown caller notified me of her passing,” her mother shared.

According to police, Lilian had visible facial injuries and a stab wound just behind her right ear.

The report details that the couple had returned from a local entertainment spot when neighbors overheard loud, violent altercations. Efforts to intervene were thwarted as the door was locked and loud music played inside.

A knife, suspected to be the murder weapon, was recovered at the scene. The family now urges authorities to swiftly apprehend the at-large suspect.

Friends described Lilian as vibrant and lively, with her sister mourning her untimely passing, saying, “I am heartbroken and devastated; her light was taken too soon. We simply want justice.”

“We’ve lost a wonderful person, likely at the hands of someone she deeply loved,” expressed a grieving friend.

This tragedy follows recent calls from women for stronger government action to curb femicide. The National Police Service reports 97 femicide cases in the last three months alone.

In response, President William Ruto reiterated the government’s firm stance against these brutal acts, urging investigators to hold perpetrators accountable.

Speaking on Sunday at Divine Africa Church, President Ruto assured that both criminal and ethical aspects of violence against women would be tackled.

“How can we allow our girls, the women of Kenya who seek our love, to die at the hands of men? We face both a criminal and moral crisis, and both must be resolved,” he stated.
